Your Passport to Historic Elkridge

This is a fun activity, almost like a scavenger hunt. Take a photo of the following landmarks (using caution if near vehicular traffic!). The first 10 people to finish get to choose something from our gift shop worth $10 or less, such as a mug, a coloring book, or a commemorative plate. Each winner will also receive a challenge coin, until we run out. (We have 10 color challenge coins and 10 smaller silver ones.)

The Landmarks (with links to a bit about their history) are:

  1. The Brumbaugh House – 5825 Main Street, Elkridge
  2. Grace Episcopal Church – 5805 Main Street, Elkridge (the stone church)
  3. Melville United Methodist Church – 5660 Furnace Avenue, Elkridge
  4. First Baptist Church – 5795 Paradise Ave, Elkridge
  5. Elkridge Furnace Inn – 5745 Furnace Ave, Elkridge
  6. The Thomas Viaduct – Try parking on the shoulder between the Viaduct and Lawyers Hill Road, or go in the park. Be careful!
  7. The Elkridge Assembly Rooms – The intersection of Lawyers Hill Road and Old Lawyers Hill Road
  8. Patapsco Bicycles – 5746 Main Street, Elkridge*
  9. Pfeiffer’s Corner School House – in Rockburn Park near the Montgomery Road Entrance
  10. Gaines Chapel AMEC – 7134 Montgomery Rd, Elkridge
  11. Unity Baptist Church – 7204 Montgomery Rd, Elkridge
  12. Troy Mansion (what’s left of it…) – In Troy Hill Park, 6500 Mansion Lane, Elkridge
  13. St. Augustine Church – 5976 Old Washington Road, Elkridge
  14. Daniels Restaurant and Bar – 5854 Washington Blvd

* We don’t have the history of this written up in the Knowledge Base yet. The building where the Elkridge store for Patapsco Bicycles is now was formerly the Elkridge Country Club, built around 1906. Major social events were held there, politicians gathered, residents played bridge, and children had dance lessons

You can do it all online if you choose. If you do it online, you must come to the Brumbaugh House to collect your prize.

To play online, go to the following link to register, and upload your photos. You do not have to upload all the photos at once.

www.elkridgeheritage.org/elkridge-passport

If you already registered, but cannot find your personal link for entering your photos, please contact [email protected] and we will have your link sent to you.

If you do not want to do it on-line, you may print a hardcopy form of the passport below. It is a tri-fold brochure so if you print it two-sided, and fold it right, “Passport to Elkridge” should be on the front.

Just bring your photos (prints or on your phone or digital camera) to the Brumbaugh House during open hours, and show us your photos and collect your prize. We will also have hard-copies of the passport available at the Brumbaugh House at our open houses.
