Visit our Museum at 5825 Main Street, Elkridge MD 21075 !

We are open from 10am to 2pm on the 3rd Saturday of every month. Come learn about the Brumbaugh House and its namesake, Dr. Benjamin Bruce Brumbaugh, and explore the history of Elkridge through maps and businesses, and other artifacts. See more photos in our Photo Gallery.
During the months of January, March, May, July, September and November, we will be having general meetings on the Second Tuesday at 7pm. Typically we will offer a historical presentation at the Carriage House (the small outbuilding behind the house). Keep an eye on the Events Calendar to watch for these. You may arrive as early as 6pm to view the house on those days. Refreshments will be served.
We are also open by appointment – call or email us to set a time that is convenient to you:
Phone: 443-406-8496; Email: [email protected].
If you are not a member, and you like what you see at the museum, we hope you will consider supporting us by joining our society. Any donation helps, however.
Quick Access Information:
Directions
From US Route 1 and Montgomery Rd: go east on Montgomery Rd to the T at Old Washington Road. Turn left onto Old Washington Road. Bear right onto Main Street. See parking instructions below.
From US Route 1 and I-195: go south on Route 1. Turn left onto Brumbaugh Street. Turn right onto Main Street. See parking instructions below.
Parking
Limited parking is available on Main Street.
Overflow parking is at Grace Episcopal Church, 5805 Main Street, Elkridge.
The Brumbaugh House Driveway must be kept clear for drop-offs. Enter the driveway from Elkridge Heights Avenue. There are signs marking the way.
We have two parking spaces behind the house. If walking up the hill from Main Street or from Grace Episcopal is an issue, and you do not have someone to drop you off, please contact us to reserve a parking spot.
Accessibility
The Brumbaugh House is not ADA compliant.
Our bathroom facility is tiny and cannot fit a wheelchair.
That being said, there is only one step up into the house from the back door. There is also one step between two of the display rooms.
Entering from the back door in a wheelchair is possible with assistance.
Persons with a walker may be able to navigate the one step with caution. Enter from the back door.
While we do not have an interpreter for the deaf, our interpretive signs are self-explanatory and will provide an enjoyable experience.
We do not have braille materials at this time. A docent can provide an auditory tour.
We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to get a grant to ease the way eventually.
Gift Shop
We have Elkridge mugs, Historic Elkridge coloring books, Decorative plates, and some books for sale. See our online store for available items. If you are local and want to shop on-line, no need to pay shipping. We can arrange for pick-up at the house. You may pay in advance on-line or pay in person. We accept cash, checks, and PayPal. Credit card payment may be made through PayPal, even without a PayPal account. Some items are discounted for members in good standing (which means they made a donation over $25 in the last 12 months).
The on-line store does not reflect the membership discounts. If you are not local and are shopping on line, you must buy a shipping box. In stock quantities on line may not be accurate since we do make in-person sales.
We are looking into ordering more mugs and plates. We are also considering a redesign of the plates. If you have requests, let us know! The new plates will be more expensive.
Entry Fee
There is no entry fee at this time. We do suggest a $10 donation for non-members.
