SUMMARY:Elkridge: Crossroads of Revolution
DESCRIPTION:As part of the “Howard County 250” project\, in which Howard County celebrates America’s 250th anniversary\, we are having a celebration of Elkridge\, and its role in many revolutions: The Industrial Revolution\, The American Revolution\, and many other re-inventions of Elkridge over time. \nWe plan to provide lunch\, and time for mingling\, and then Tina Barton will give an introduction\, Robert Bailey\, Maryland Park historian\, will discuss our industrial and Revolutionary War themes\, and then Craig Pool will wrap up and describe Elkridge today and how we are moving forward. \nThe event will take up two park shelters in Patapsco: 104 and 105. The smaller shelter will have booths for other organizations to share materials\, and the larger shelter will hold our lunch and speaking events. \nWeather permitting\, Robert Bailey will lead a history walk in the afternoon. \nThe event is free\, but we ask you to register so we know how much food to bring. Also the park can fill up and parking is limited to 50 spaces. SUMMARY:Dedication of Lafayette Tree at the Brumbaugh House
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce the Marker Placement and Dedication Ceremony for our Lafayette Tree. \nSunday\, September 13\, at 2pm. \nIn June\, 2026\, the DAR planted a sapling that was grown from a cutting of a “Witness Tree” (a tree at least 300 years old) that was on the Brandywine Battlefield in Pennsylvania.
