Labor Day in Elkridge

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, observed the first Monday in September, Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.

In order to recognize workers in Elkridge, tell us your stories! We are especially interested in people who worked for businesses in Elkridge in the past such as Davis and Hemphill, the Cider Mill, Belmont (as a conference center or otherwise), the motels and taverns, etc. so these questions are written in past tense. This way you don’t have to worry about repercussions if you have something unpleasant to tell. Feel free to relate stories told by your parents etc. Skip any questions if you don’t have anything to share on the topic. If you lived in Elkridge but worked elsewhere, we still want to hear from you.
