Missing the Good Ole Days

As I have started loading content onto our new website, I find myself looking into my archives that contain photos, video and audio of some of our old events. One of my favorites was Tavern Night at Daniels Restaurant in 2013. I hope we can have some fun events like that again! Our last (really fun) event was Little Poland night at the Firehouse. We heard stories about how Elkridge became a popular place for Polish people from Baltimore to relocate, and what it was like growing up in these extended families. My dear friend Pat Pool, also a member of the St. Augustine Choir with me back in the day, made one of her last public appearances at the Little Poland event before COVID shut us all down and cancer took her life a year later. I’m so glad to have a video of that event!

I can also pick out Pat’s voice in some of the choir music. Now we have joined the St. Augustine Choir and the Ascension choir into the CCASTA choir, and this year we have a new (wonderful) director, Emma Mountcastle, who replaced the amazing Paul Lavin who retired in 2022. Nothing ever stays the same. Pat is dearly missed there. Paul still comes by and helps out now and then but we miss him too. Our new friends from Ascension, and our love for Emma and her talents, help fill the void.

Look under our collection tab for some playlists of Tavern Night and some old choir music, and the full video of the Little Poland panel of speakers including Pat.

Here’s to making new memories!
