Our archives contain a transcript of an interview done by an American Folklorist, Alison Kahn, on May 14, 1999, coordinated by Friends of The Patapsco Valley and Heritage Greenway. Below is a pdf of what we have. The source of the first part is not labeled in our archives. The newspaper article was in the Howard County Times. The Simms Family and Taylor Family are both associated with First Baptist Church in Elkridge, the first African-American Church in the area. This is a valuable interview that touches on racial unrest during the 1960s, and the plight of the Race Road Community which historically consisted of black families. There are some reminiscences about Dr. Brumbaugh as well.
